About Hunters Lodge Bed & Breakfast

History

Built in 1900 Hunters Lodge has operated as a hotel, guest house and bed & breakfast providing accommodation since 1926 and was extended to its present size in the 1970's and late 1980's.

Location

Hunters Lodge is conveniently situated for Southampton City Centre which means all the sights and attractions are only a short distance away including the Guild Hall, Civic Centre, Mayflower Theatre, West Quay Shopping, including the new IKEA store, Leisureworld, Ocean Village Marina, Docks, Ferry Port, Cruise Terminals (see our Cruise Info page), University, General Hospital SO16 6YD , National Oceanography Centre, Royal South Hants and Spire Southampton (formerly the Chealybeate BUPA) Hospitals.

Southampton benefits from good rail and road links and therefore places like the New Forest are only a 15 minute drive away with Lyndhurst (10 miles), Winchester (13 miles), the Rose Bowl (Hampshire Cricket stadium), West End Southampton (6 miles), Hamble (8 miles), Romsey (7 miles), Portsmouth (20 miles), Salisbury (23 miles) and Bath (64 miles) all being easily accessible too. Southampton Central railway station is only half a mile away (0.8K) and access to the M3 and M27 motorways is only a short drive. The Isle of Wight is a short ferry crossing away and the Red Funnel Ferry terminal is only a mile away from us.

Located in a quiet residential district yet within easy accessibility of the city centre our double fronted Victorian house retains many original features which are enhanced by the furnishing styles within the public areas.

Within the locality there are a variety of many fine restaurants, cafes and bars available for your evening meals and catering for all tastes. Please see the following hyperlink for a sample of some of our restaurants in the vicinity.

Southampton also has a variety of galleries, cinemas, music venues, theatres and nightlife for your enjoyment whilst you are here.

The city centre is only a short walking distance away (1.4Km) and local transport is both frequent and accessible. As previously mentioned Southampton Central railway station and the National Express coach station are both 0.8Km and 1Km away from us respectively with the ferry, docks and cruise terminals being about 2Km away and all can be easily reached by foot, car or taxi or local transport within 10 minutes.

Facilities

There is a spacious dining room and a lounge with a licensed residents bar. Our lounge and bar area creates a warm and friendly atmosphere for you to enjoy a drink, view television or just simply relax with a good book. We also have free WiFi internet connection throughout and a free dedicated broadband internet connection with PC, desk, printer and scanner sited in the lounge area for our guests use.

Hunters Lodge also has one of the larger off road car parks in the locality with 4 off road bays at the front 6 off road bays at the rear together with 4 garages for the guests use when available. Motorcyclists and bicyclists may also securely store their cycles there at no extra cost.
We are unable to reserve or guarantee car parking spaces as it is on a first come first serve basis but will always make every effort to accommodate guests vehicles. However in exceptional circumstances, should an off road car parking space be unavailable then car parking is allowed in Landguard Road overnight from 6pm to 8am.

We appreciate that after checkout guests may not be able to board their cruise ship or catch their plane, for instance, until later in the day. For these guests who would rather relax here then you are most welcome to make use of our lounge area to while away this time. If you would rather do some last minute shopping or sightseeing we are more than happy to store your luggage here whilst you do this.

Whatever your needs are we will always try to accommodate them.
