Southampton is the major UK port for cruises with over 240 cruise ship movements a year with it's growing popularity we have noted the number of enquiries and reservations for pre-cruise accommodation increase accordingly.
We have specifically included this page to help answer many of the most frequently asked questions and offer assistance to those guests considering travelling and seeking accommodation in Southampton prior to joining their cruise ship.
If you are just staying 1 night, prior to taking your cruise ship the next day, a handy tip we have found is to just pack an overnight bag for your stay with
us. Your main cruise luggage can either be securely stored in the bar or lounge area overnight or in your room if you prefer ready for you joining your cruise ship.
From Heathrow Airport it is our recommendation that visitors should consider taking the National Express coach. The journey is regular, direct taking around 1hour 50 minutes in total and cheaper than taking the train. The train option will require you to firstly take a bus to Weybridge where you will then take the the train to Southampton Central rail station.
The National Express coach station can be easily located at Heathrow Airport and tickets can be bought there upon arrival or can be purchased in advance.

Upon arrival at National Express (Harbour Parade) coach station in Southampton there is a taxi office. The cost of a taxi to take you to us here at Hunters Lodge is around GBP4.00 to GBP5.00.
From Gatwick Airport it is our recommendation that visitors should consider taking the direct train to Southampton. The journey is regular and direct taking around 2 hours whereas taking the National Express option will involve going via Heathrow Airport and then onto Southampton which is obviously a longer journey time.
The train station can be easily located at Gatwick Airport and tickets can be bought there upon arrival or can be purchased in advance.

Upon arrival at Southampton Central train station in Southampton there is a taxi rank directly outside. The cost of a taxi to take you to us here at Hunters Lodge is around GBP3.00 to GBP4.00.
We do have a local Airport Transfer company that we can recommend who could arrange pick up from the above airports or other destinations should you prefer. Please contact them directly.
For those travelling by car to Southampton our Find Us page provides information on how to locate us in Southampton via the main M3 and M27 motorways. If you have any difficulties finding us then please call and we will be only too pleased to assist.
Hunters Lodge has free off road ample open carparking available onsite with parking bays at the front and at the rear together with a limited number of covered garages for our guests own use and convenience. Motorcycles and cycles may be stored in a garage if required.
There is a height restriction to gain access to the rear car park and this applies to mainly commercial vehicles.
For those guests, who are going on a cruise and have booked a room, we do additionally offer a limited number of long stay carparking places for which we charge GBP5.00 per day or part thereof. However please note that any cars that are left here are at the owners risk and Hunters Lodge does not take any responsibility for any loss or damage. The cruise terminals are only between a mile (1K) to a mile and a half (2K) away from us here at Hunters Lodge, although we are not in a position to offer a transfer service to the terminals, taxis are both frequent and reliable and we can arrange to book them for you when you are here. The cost is around GBP7.00 to GBP10.00.

The Queen Elizabeth II Terminal
Whilst our check-out time is 10:30 am, we appreciate that for those guests who are taking a cruise their boarding times maybe some time later, this may leave with them some time to fill before their can board the cruise ship. Guests may therefore wish to avail themselves of our bar and lounge area storing their luggage and either relaxing here or going into Southampton for some last minute shopping or sightseeing.
We can arrange for taxis or if you prefer visit the City Centre for a while and collect one there and then come back via us to pick up your luggage before going onto your Cruise Terminal.
